The History of 710 Oil Day | Official Day for Dabs

The 4/20 of a New Generation

For over 30 years, smokers have celebrated 4/20 as an honored tradition, taking time for themselves to enjoy their favorite herbs, flowers, and custom-rolled cigarettes. But over those 30 years, much has changed in the world of smoking.

We've seen premium papers, water pipes, and small vaporizers change the way people enjoy smoking, and chief among smoking innovations is the concentrate: an intensely focused and thick solution packed with all the benefits smokers want.

The Origins of 710

“710” is the number associated with oils and extracts for the plain and simple reason that if you turn the number upside down, it looks an awful lot like the word “OIL.” (Go on, try it on a calculator, just like how you used to type in 5318008 in math class and then giggle with your friends when you turned it upside down.)

Unlike the 4/20 holiday and celebrations, the 7/10 holiday is a recent phenomenon with debatably vague origins. 710 celebrations were first noted in 2012 (but may have occurred earlier than that), with the 7/10 Cup celebrating the various types of extracts and oils.

Since then the use of oils, extracts, and concentrates have been on the steady rise, and with more people using oils 7/10, or July 10th, is quickly becoming the next biggest holiday for consumers.
